Janice Akpobaro, Founder, JENEVA PALACE, a renowned service marketplace dedicated to connecting fashion and beauty professionals with service seekers in Nigeria recently empowered and equipped 41 educationally disadvantaged youth in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The graduation ceremony held in Yusuf Grillo Hall of Yaba College of Technology was attended by YCT Deputy Rector,  Mrs. Titilayo Adetowun-Ukabam; Sc Johnson Senior Associate to GM West Africa, Mrs. Ruth Akpobaro, Rep LGI Eti-Osa, NYSC, Mrs. Nancy Ogundele and Coordinator YCT Skills Acquisition Centre, Dr. Adebayo-Oyetoro.

The skill acquisition program took place from February 7 to 11, 2022, at the Yaba College of Technology Skills Acquisition Centre, Yaba, Lagos, as part of her service to her host community, under the Community Development Service (CDS) course during the compulsory one year National Youth Service Scheme.

Speaking at the ceremony, Janice congratulated all 41 graduating students. According to her;

This is an intervention program to enable and equip educationally disadvantaged youth with skills for self-employment and capacity to further their education from proceeds of their businesses. There were five proposed courses for their training: Wig Making/Hair Styling, Fashion Craft, Barbing, Makeup Artistry and Nail Artistry.

Janice also presented start-up equipment to each of the beneficiaries and spoke about the upcoming launch of JENEVA PALACE to help promote their skills as well as connect them to prospective clients. She further recognized the 5 best graduating students from each of the courses and awarded them master class training scholarships.

In her closing remark, Janice extended her appreciation to Yaba College of Technology for their support during the training of the youth at the skills acquisition centre and their graduation ceremony.
